Full-day small-group tour from Cluj-Napoca

Experience one of Romania’s most beautiful scenic drives — the Trans Apuseni Road, where mountain views, hidden villages, and peaceful nature meet authentic Transylvanian charm.

We start early from Cluj-Napoca, heading toward our first panoramic stop above Cheile Turzii (Turda Gorge) — a dramatic limestone canyon carved by the Hășdate River. It’s the perfect spot to admire the cliffs and capture your first mountain photos.

Next, we’ll stop near Rimetea village, famous for its white houses and the impressive “Sleeping Giant” rock formation (Piatra Secuiului).

From the viewpoint above the valley, you’ll enjoy one of the most iconic panoramas in Transylvania.

As we continue on the Trans Apuseni Scenic Road, the landscape unfolds with forested valleys, mountain ridges, and quiet hamlets that feel untouched by time. Along the way, we’ll pass through charming areas such as:

• Râmeț – known for its ancient monastery and the spectacular Râmeț Gorges, a natural reserve of limestone walls and crystal streams.

• Pleașa Peak (1,250 m) – the highest point of the route, with sweeping views of the Trascău Mountains.

• Ponor – home to the colorful rock formations of Vânătările Ponorului and the wild Geogel Gorges.

• Mogoș – where old wooden houses with straw roofs still dot the hillsides, preserving the spirit of rural Transylvania.

• Bucium – a land of legends and nature reserves, including the twin volcanic cliffs Detunata Goală and Detunata Flocoasă, and the Negrileasa Daffodil Meadow in springtime.

At midday, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in nature, made with local ingredients and available also in a vegetarian version. It’s a peaceful break to breathe mountain air and soak in the scenery.
